I've been trying to track down copies of "Daddy's Highway" and "Compiletely
Bats" for a few years now with no luck - is there any chance you all would
be willing to sell me CD-R copies? Both seem very difficult to come by in
the U.S.
Thanks,
Ryan Shepard
-----------------------------------I can't beleive i missed your show at the corner hotel. Nothing turns me on more than the Bats live,

AHHHHHHH! Please help,
I've tried several times to search fruitlessly for your first album on
cd but it seems hopeless.
I live in the U.S. and I'm about to give up.
Amazon is out of stock,Gemm.com does not have it either and ebay is all
out as well.
Could I buy a copy from you guys or if not point me in the right
direction,would ya?

for a BATS page! I feel as if I am hallucinating! I
am the world's biggest Bats fan! I would love to buy the Minisnap ep and ALL
available Bats rarities. Saw the band during the "Noisyland" US tour in 1993.
All reports are correct: The Bats RULED the earth on that night! And I am a huge
JPSE fan! A response would be appreciated! Ta. William Rodgers- York, PA.

Hi there Minisnap (Paul and Co.),
I am wondering if you still have any CD singles available for March Hare:
I'd love to get one. As for the other Minisnap CDEPs, do you know if I could
find them at Real Groovy or Slow Boat up here in Wellington?
I'd also love a copy of the Australian pole poster for the Bats if you have
any left and the postage costs aren't too bad. Maybe it's too much of a
hassle for you to send.
I was saddened to find out I missed Minisnap a few weeks ago in
Wellington--I saw the Fur Patrol posters that week but didn't read the fine
print. I am tempted to fly down to Dunedin for the Bats/Minisnap combo at
Arc next Friday. What about the gigs at UCSA on Sunday in ChCh--are those
for students only?
Looking at your video page on your website I noticed that the live videos of
"Earwig" and "Mid City Team" from the Onset Offset ChCh video compilation
weren't listed there. I wouldn't have known anything about them, of course,
except that I found a copy of the comp at Wellington Public Library and
watched it last night. Really enjoyed the sped-up version of MidCityTeam and
the live sound. Where was that recorded?
OK, hope to see you soon and to be able to get my hands on the various
merchandise--let me know what's available.
Thanks.

Hi!
First of all, it's wonderful that there is now a website!!!
I'm not sure who checks the e-mail for the bats, but anyhow, just
wanted to
pass along compliments for all of the wonderful albums produced. Quite
honestly, The Bats have been my favorite band for at least 4-5 years,
and
I'm only 22. Here in the U.S., particularly in Minneapolis, MN, it is
difficult to come across truly fine gigs. My older brothers, when asked
of
the time The Bats came to First Avenue in Minneapolis quite a few years
ago, tell of the great performance that night. Having been probably 13
or
whatever age at the time, however, I was unable to attend. Are any tours
outside of NZ planned any time in the future? I would certainly travel
for
such an event! Though my collection of CD's wouldn't be the same without
the likes of The Law of Things and Daddy's Highway, a live performance
would probably be the event of a lifetime, even if I needed to travel
to NZ
to experience it.
Again, I can't tell you how happy I am to see there is now an official
Bats
website, and best of luck to you all in creating and performing music
that
is unmatched!
Sincerely,
Matt Falkner

Hi,
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Minisnap concert at Bodega the
other night - beautiful songs, so cool to hear Kaye's voice and I'm a
fan
- put me on the mailing list!

PAINFUL RADIO 10/8/02
Greetings;
It's probably the middle of the bloody night down there but it's bright
and
shiny here. Anyway, I need some music, your music. When will you be
putting
some down on plastic? My Bats discs are about shot, in and out of the cd
player day after day, but I keep playing them. It's funny, even after 15
years, when I pick out something to listen to it's always the Bats. I'm
not
a loser drooling fan with nothing to do but email bands, but there's
very
little music on this continent that's worth a damn, so I thought I'd
ask you
directly. I'll keep watching your website for news.
You should here the crap they play here.

re: Bats website feedback - 15/8/02
Ummm.. hullo.
Hey, u don't know me ( 'tho we actually met one night at a gig in
Auckland... I don't expect u to remember, but it was last year sum
time, I
think, at The Kings Arms... I was the guy up front with the old
Compiletly
Bats T-Shirt, I think I interviewed u guys after for a local fanzine.. I
THINK I did anyways, I was a little drunk :) ), but I just kinda
stumbled
across the Bats website:
http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/thebats/Anyways,
was just reading thru the "Stories" section, and found it very
informative, very good. I notice u ask for feedback at the bottom of the
page, so, anyways, this is just to let ya know that I'm a HUGE Bats fan
( u
guys are my favourite band ever, of all time ), and I find little
stories
and anecdotes like u have written on ya site a very good read. Plse keep
writing a few more of 'em, I kinda want to let ya know that u got at
least
ONE person reading 'em. :)
Anyways, I'm sure you're very bored right now and you're a few seconds
away
from hitting the "DELETE" button on ya mailbox. :) So, thanks for
listening to me, i notice u guys have a new side project in the works,
"Minisnap"? I'll be looking forward to picking up a single or album if
one becomes available, i heard the "Nova" snippet u have on ya site, its
sounds frikken' cool.
Cheers,
Res Rapid.PS: U folks gonna be playing up here in Auckland any time
soon?

Subject: Love Nova!!!
Hi Guys. Big Bats fan here and I was surfing the Bats site and came
across
the Nova MP3. Great song!!!! I would love to get some Minisnap
material.
Can't find anything via the internet (checked Amazon and CDNow). Do you
know how I can find some of your material?
Keep up the good work and good luck to you and the rest of your
projects!!!

Dear Bats,
Do you know if the lyrics and guitar tablature for "North By North" are
posted
on the web? If so, could you send me the URL?
Thanks,

Hello,
I was very pleased to come across the web-site for the band when I was
looking at the Flying nun pages recently. It's great!
It was interesting for me to read your recollections of touring and B+B
facilities in the Scottish Highlands in the late '80s. I saw you when
you
played in Inverness that time (the Phoenix Bar I think it was - now
closed
down). I loved that gig. I was brought up in a town about 25 miles
away. It
was very rare to see international bands - or even most Scottish bands.
Still is. But it was particularly amazing to see you since I'd bought
the
'Made up in Blue' single just before that and 'Daddy's Highway' I think
(on
the strength of 'I go wild' from the 'Tuatara' compilation)
I'm a big fan of all the stuff you've done since. Without wanting to
over-analyse, I find your songs have a great depth and intensity to
them
that has lasted very well and repays a lot of listens. Hmm, wouldn't it
be
great if the Bats made it over to Britain again soon (or Ireland). I
sent an
email to Robert recently (I'm not sure which of you will get this one!)
having got in touch with him through FN and he mentioned the band were
working on some new recordings.
Well, that's it really. Just wanted to let you know that I think you're
music is very special and look forward to hearing more in the future.
Cheers,
David

Hi, Just wanted to say that I've only recently gotten into the Bats'
music
but I do find the music to be fantastic. Fear of God is one of my all
time
favorite albums.
Is there any possibility of a new album in the near future?
Thanks

Markus and I are now fans of the bats for years on end, Markus
started to collect your records on vinyl in the mid eighties and still
can´t get enough -spent a fortune on your music, the bloke, he
hopes he made you rich.... ;-)
He saw you all in the rose club in köln, germany in 1986. Kaye
even talked to him and he is still raving about that...
;-)
I (Udo) saw your album "daddys highway" in the record shop by chance
and got hooked on the cover - and then hooked on the music forever. I
play piano, guitar and write songs in a rotten unknown Düsseldorf
band... ;-)
Both of us are big flying nun fans. The label is fantastic (The Clean,
Great Unwashed, Verlaines, Chills, Look Blue Go Purple and so on - You
name´em, we love em), but very hard to get in Germany as contact
with normal records must have ended, sad to say.
We are thrilled to see that Robert is coming over to Germany to promote
his new project and we´ll be there in Köln and maybe
Dortmund too to kiss the earth he´s walked upon... ;-)
We hope that he´ll bring cd´s and posters for us to buy or
maybe a songbook with bats or minisnap or clean or magick heads
material to play chords and get to know the lyrics of your art (Markus
does not play an instrument but dashes paint on canvas, check out under
www.m-kottmann.de). You can take a look at my website under
http://hometown.aol.de/mainzudo1969/homepage.html or my band:
www.sex-on-the-roof.im-web.net
Kaye´s lead-vocals on the minisnap song "nova" out of the web
sounds absolutely brilliant and we hope to get more - you can call us
kiwibeat junkies if you like. Hopefully nova and other songs will be
available soon! Will your website give notice then?
A dream of mine is to travel around in new zealand, get to know the
country which must be wonderful and see the bats live in Christchurch
or Dunedin or elsewhere and get to feel the spirit that must be with
you all. This spirit comes through in your music and would do the rest
of the world some good, especially since the 11th september. Your
website hints that Hamish Kilgour lives in NY, we hope he is fine!
Love to you,
all the best,
Markus and Udo.
(PS: My english is bad, so Markus helped me to write this email).
